Part 1: Taking Stock of the Angels' Current State

Alright, Halo fans, let’s do an exercise we’ve all done at some point—whether its in our notes, or it’s scribbling on paper during a flight to Phoenix. I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts, Locked On Angels with the Super Halo Bros and I was encouraged to do this exercise out loud. I’m putting on my GM hat, stepping into Perry Minasian’s shoes, and crafting a plan to get our team back on track.

First, let’s be real about where we stand. The Angels are coming off a franchise-worst 63-99 season. It’s not what anyone hoped for, but there are some silver linings. Our Under-26 crew has shown flashes of brilliance, and despite the constant skepticism, our farm system has some serious promise.

Let’s break it down:

Zach Neto is a star in the making

Nolan Schanuel impressed with his ability to adapt quickly to the big leagues.

Logan O’Hoppe brings energy and leadership behind the plate.

Jo Adell is finally starting to show the potential we’ve all been waiting for.

Ben Joyce and Jose Soriano bring serious heat from the mound.

And yes, Reid Detmers remains a key piece in the rotation with his continued development.

This young core gives us something to build on. Now, the challenge is figuring out how to make the necessary moves to set us up for a competitive 2025 and a legitimate shot at contention in 2026—without mortgaging the future.

In Part 2, I’ll outline a few realistic moves that can help us get there. Stay tuned, Halo fans. It’s time to dream big but plan smart.
